"Play is the work of children."

-Jean Piaget

Curriculum

Our approach to curriculum is child centered and child guided. The curriculum uses experiential learning in a relationship-driven environment. With our Reggio Emilia approach, we teach children how to use symbolic languages (e.g. painting, sculpting, drama) in everyday life. Family involvement is also very important and is welcomed in our program!

Outside Play

Play Big: Children fire off synapses while expending abundant toddler energy.

Skills involved: large motor, motor planning, proprioception, strengthening vestibular apparatus, crossing midline, social interaction, imaginative play

Science and Math: Explore the worlds of math and science through hands-on experiences. Our little ones learn every day math, such as counting to 20 when washing hands or counting items on their plates during snack time. They LOVE insects and bugs, and learn life science through exploration of the world around them and gardening.

Skills involved: fine motor, pre-math concepts, sequencing (steps of an experiment), making predictions, questioning, observation

Games: Develop social skills such as sharing and cooperation through participation in games.

Skills involved: fine motor, turn-taking, following rules of a game, social interaction, imaginative play

Music and Movement

We focus on the process! Creativity abounds when children are able to explore and experiment with media, color, and texture.

Skills: fine motor, motor planning, sensory awareness, creative execution

Art

Each day students are led in songs and rhythmic exercises, whether it be for transitions, celebrations, to reinforce conceptual understanding, or just pure fun. Choreographed dance performances teach spacial awareness, help children be aware of their role and part in a group, foster group cooperation, see the bigger picture, develop skills of listening and following directions, as well as promote coordination and gross motor skills.

Meals

Cooking and Baking

Cooking: Children can cook! With supervision, kids participate in food preparation while learning about safety and nutrition.

Skills: fine motor, motor planning, cooperation, sequencing (recipes/steps)

We serve delicious, healthy, organic snacks and lunch every day.
